People who are into Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter, Lights, are really, really into Lights. And those die-hard fans definitely showed up to support the artist during her recent tour stop at Seattle’s historic Showbox. Supporting the only three-day old release of her new album PƎP, via Fueled by Ramen, Lights delivered what the fans needed: a joyful, honest, cathartic return to the scene. But first, pop punk singer tiLLie attacked the stage for an opening set that felt straight out of Warped Tour. The crowd bounced along with her pop angst and everygirl stories about going to Target. It was the perfect setup, frankly.

Then, in a red flight suit and platform Docs, Lights took to the stage with the ripping electro track “Prodigal Daughter” from the new album, declaring “Baby I’m back” on repeat and it really did feel that way. For many, the return to concert-going is a tentative venture and Lights delivered a performance worth everyone’s time with a nice long setlist that spanned her discography. The crowd were stoked as Lights interacted with them from the edge of the stage, holding out the mic for them to sing along. Overall, it was an infectious set that showed off Lights’ range of musical expertise and experimentation.
