Every now and then a band comes along with the kind of chemistry that the industry would love to bottle. Duke Evers is one of those bands. The Seattle three piece – comprised of guitarist/lead vocalist Josh Starkel, drummer/vocalist Kyle Veazey, and bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Dune Butler – have been lavishing local crowds with their spirited, sexy, hard-driving rock and roll. And after years in the making, their full-length debut album, Velvet Hips, is finally about to drop.

A year and a half after signing with San Diego label Randm Records, the 11-track album boasts everything we’ve come to appreciate about these guys. There’s sweet melodies that culminate in tear-it-up guitar riffs, warbly Elvis-like vocals, and beats you can’t help but dance to. Disparate influences somehow manage to both show off and merge into a cohesive, compelling work while the threesome’s live magnetism all but pops out of the speakers.

They’re celebrating the album’s release with a solid lineup of local rock, featuring Fauna Shade, The Hollers, and Tekla Waterfield, November 18th at Chop Suey. Be sure to get your tickets here.
