Seattle is known for being a beautiful city with a lively nightlife and lots of booming tech businesses. There are very few events that bring these things together and really capture the awesomeness that is living in Seattle. For a few lucky people, last Saturday was one of those events. With a large stage set up next to the International Fountain in the middle of the Seattle Center, a DJ played dance music next to a few Xbox vans. This was Microsoft’s Tailgaming event for promoting new games such as Madden 16 & Forza Motorsport. They had demo games to play, sweepstakes to enter and most excitingly, a free Chromeo show.

The crowd was surprisingly small for such a band. The closer to start time, the area filled. A lot of people seemed like they had no idea what they had just walked into but were excited with curiosity. At 8:35pm, the stage lights dimmed and everyone started chanting “Chromeo whoa-oh! Chromeo whoa-oh!” and on came David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel. Dave 1 was clad in tight black leather jacket and side smirk. He worked the crowd with his amazing voice and picture perfect guitar moves as P-Tugg rocked some wicked synthesized and vocoded beats.

Chromeo looked genuinely stoked to be performing at the event. They were energetic throughout and gave a solid hour long performance. The crowd danced and cheered to the end. Chanting for an encore which they did receive. It’s amazing you could have such an event in the middle of the city, in the middle of a park and at no cost to the attendees. Everyone seemed to be leaving in high spirits and off to do something else, not wanting such an unique night to end quite so early.
