Active Child w/ the Other Band
The Triple Door, Seattle, WA
06.28.15

Pat Grossi, aka Active Child stopped by The Triple Door on Sunday, where – backed by a three-person band – he unleashed a gorgeously lush and innately choral performance. His brooding brand of electro-pop, full of honest vocals and layered instrumentation goes to a whole new level live on stage. Grossi tells tales of love perfectly choreographed with a spectacular light show and outpouring of emotion.

Standing out from the crowd of pop music, Grossi seamlessly layers his signature harp into ghostly harmonies, with subtle percussion perfectly accenting the almost monk-like vocals. The sold out – and standing room only – audience at The Triple Door listened rapt with delight as the band played favorites from AC’s debut You Are All I See, including crowd pleasers “High Priestess” and “Hanging On” along with the tracks like 1999 from the just-released LP Mercy.

The new album swings from effervescent to somber in a heartbeat, all the while showcasing Grossi’s otherworldly voice. And the live show perfectly captured every heartstring.

Opening band Low Roar – out of Iceland by way of California – showed off an exploratory range of their own. Ryan Karazija, the man behind Low Roar has certainly created a unique soundscape, where three band members layer keys over guitars over drums into a pulsing, glitchy, ethereal fog of dreams. Their sophomore release 0 is out now.
