Irish. Blues. Folk. Rock. Soul: Hozier, in so few words.

The Paramount was fortunate enough to be filled with his binding, unique sound on Saturday. This was one of those few shows that you think about long after your ears stop ringing; the kind of show that compels you to listen to every track again – just to bring you back to that moment, to that venue. Let’s be real: the kind of show that encourages you to hit “buy” on iTunes when you are just innocently passing by the album (seriously though, if you are on the fence about it, just do it already, you won’t be disappointed).

You may be familiar with the catchier, peak-your-interest radio standards, “Take Me to Church” and “Work Song.” Don’t worry, Hozier nailed those, and many more. The whole performance was a display of hauntingly soulful lyrics with the type of sound that resonates deep within your body. There was a different type of contagious energy as the crowd swayed and danced along, enjoying a refreshingly original Valentine’s Day show.
