Despite a shift in music styles, Bring Me The Horizon still remains a leader among their fans. Having seen them shift from death-core metal to more experimental with the electronic metal-core, the fans still came out to see the glorious BMTH at the WaMu Theater on a Tuesday night. Their live show and performance have only gotten more entertaining over the years. Bigger productions and new everything meant there was a lot of surprises for their Threesome Tour.

The stage was set up with steps up to a large catwalk along the back, with a large screen as the backdrop. Large fake production speakers surrounded the stairs and stage. Two people on each side of the stage were armed with fog machines, aiming them back and forth over the crowd as the show got underway.

They opened the show with “Mantra” off their latest album, Amo. The band entered the stage along with lead singer and popular frontman, Oli Sykes. Sykes was dressed in an inside out tan suit with the words “Gone Crazy Be Back Soon.” Who knew that an inside out suit could be fashionable? I guess anything Sykes wears he is able to pull off.

The setlist was completely different than previous tours, and included in a lot of new songs and arrangements. For fans that missed out on the older songs from their first two death-core albums, they still got their fix with tracks like “The House of Wolves.” Largely the set was full of songs off their newest album, including “Nihilist Blues,” “Sugar Honey Ice & Tea,” and “Mother Tongue.”

The night ended with an encore of two songs off their previous album, That’s the Spirit, with songs “Throne” and “Drown.” Their 15-song setlist was a big production full of lights, smoke, quirky animated graphics, a full choreographed dance crew, and it was one of the best BMTH tours. They always keep things fresh and original and this new threesome tour was like no other.

Each time Sleeping with Sirens plays a tour, you get to see a different side of them. This time, it was their heaviest side, as they played more of their hardcore songs than ever before. They played only a few of their more catchy hits but those songs were few and far between. With a new record out, they opted for newer songs over their older songs. The perfect balance opening for BMTH.

Their lighting was bright yet ominous, coming from directly above, and complimenting their heavy setlist. All this brought bigger circle pits that lead singer, Kellin Quinn, kept asking for. Their performance was full of energy and speed. Running around the stage, throwing the mic in the air, and jumping off the risers. With their final two songs of the night they played two older songs, “Kick Me” and “If You Can’t Hang.”

In the wizard of Oz, the entire group falls to the dark magic of the Wicked Witch of the West when she causes them to fall into a deep dark sleep by running through a field of beautiful blossoming poppies. This perfectly describes opening artists and metal-pop fusion artist Poppy. She was beautiful and blossoming at first sight and then before you know it there was a dark side.

Each song had its bright sides but always lurking in the dark metal. Bands in the past have combined metal and pop but none to the extremes of Poppy. She stands alone at this combination level and put on one hell of a show opening the concert.
