Jorja Smith + Kali Uchis
WaMu Theater, Seattle, WA
05.20.19

When Jorja Smith and Kali Uchis announced a tour together, it was the duo the world didn’t know we needed. Two of the most badass women in R&B, collaborating for a night of girl power, and it shaped up to be even more than promised.

Kali Uchis was the first to come out, with her endless confidence and smooth jams, ready to make the crowd fall in love. Kali’s performance has such an interesting dynamic because she appears so completely relaxed when she performs. She doesn’t talk a whole lot, her energy doesn’t spike up real high at times, and she doesn’t move super quickly with her dancing. But she just glides across the stage and does her own thing effortlessly, bringing the crowd along for her ride.

When Jorja came on it was much the same: all eyes on her with the whole crowd sucked in. Jorja is one of those crazy artists where, regardless of the fact that her album has been out for less than a year, she’s blowing up and is now co-headlining WaMu with a sold-out crowd of screaming fans. Her debut album Lost & Found shows off her beautiful voice and musical style, which, live, is perfectly coupled by her laid back and smiley performance.

And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, as Jorja started her encore, Kali walked back out to join her. Both ladies are incredible individually, but together they’re truly angelic and feed off each other’s energy for a beautiful duo encore.
