Remember in 2005 when “Beautiful Soul” was on the radio all the time and Jesse McCartney was breaking hearts in every teen magazine? Well almost 15 years later, he’s still got a pretty dedicated fan base—dedicated enough to pack out a 1,800-person venue on a Wednesday night.

After The Resolution Tour opened with Whitney Woerz, a high energy pop singer-songwriter, fans lost their minds when McCartney finally took the stage in his floral tracksuit.

He decided to open his set with “How Do You Sleep?” one of his hit tracks from 2008. I actually didn’t anticipate seeing much of a crowd because I figured he was so far past his prime, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Once the first notes of that opening track hit, it seemed like everyone in the crowd was singing along instantly. His fans knew every word and were endlessly happy to see him performing again after so many years.

The excitement flooded through the rest of his set with “Punch Drunk Recreation” and “Body Language” and McCartney seemed unchanged by so many years. Easily able to keep up with his set and fill it with the same expressionism he’s known for, it honestly was a pretty shocking performance.

After finally closing with, you guessed it, “Beautiful Soul,” the cheers and screams continued long after the pop-star left his stage.
