Playboi Carti easily had one of the most memorable shows I’ve been to.

The journey starts on November 6 at Showbox Sodo. Hundreds of fans lined up out in the cold, ready to party with the rapper that’s blown up this past year. Once fans got inside, everything was a bit of a surprise: no merch, no opener, they just had to wait for Carti. And wait they did. Until one fan passed out. Then another. Then another. Half an hour before the rapper even took the stage, more than twenty fans had passed out and had to get pulled out of the crowd because it was so crazy and tightly packed.

When he finally did come out, the energy remained the same. As he jumped and screamed and rapped all over the stage in the dark, sweaty room, fans screamed right along in happiness. The setlist itself looked pretty long, but for most songs, Carti would only sing the first verse/chorus of each song, then move onto the next, leaving each track at under a minute.

“Magnolia” popped off of course with the whole crowd eagerly milly rocking right along with the star.

Playboi Carti’s night was boiled down to the essentials: just the highlights of his songs without the distractions of a fancy stage setup or an opener, and the crowd happily ate it up.
