You might not initially think “party” when you think of “state fair” but Flo Rida set out to prove preconceptions all wrong during his live set at Washington State Fairgrounds. He pulled out all the stops to make this well-attended show a good time, and the crowd got their fair share (pun intended) of the hit-maker’s hijinks.

The show opened with Dutch singer/songwriter Natalie La Rose, signed to Flo Rida’s own imprint, who put on a really great set full of big vocals, attitude, and incredibly catchy hooks. Her dancing background certainly didn’t hurt either. Her party (and dance floor) ready R&B tracks are already earning her time on the Billboard charts, and she definitely didn’t struggle getting the crowd’s interest.

But the real party arrived with Flo. Or is it Rida. Either way, the chart-topping genius of party anthems brought the heat. There was a full live band on stage and, thankfully, the addition of a live female vocalist. Given that many of his hits have been collaborations with other artists, it was nice to have a band and second voice filling the void instead of just a DJ or backing track.

The set was basically a back-to-back hit list, and Flo kept the crowd involved, bringing gobs of ladies on stage for a dance party during “Apple Bottom Jeans,” and they didn’t hesitate to grind right up on him, and drop it plenty low for the crowd. Mind you this was after he passed out birthday roses and before he took a ride on a little cart through the aisles during his Sia collab, “Wild Ones.”

Flo had the most sparkly hi-tops ever, like glittering disco-balls on his fast-moving feet, as he worked the front of the stage, all the while his scantily-clad, and just as glittery, dancers synchronized their booty shakes and sprayed the front row with bottles of champagne during “My House.” From “Whistle” and “Good Feeling” to the tougher “GDFR,” and the Kesha-collab “Right Round,” Flo kept the crowd dancing, screaming along, and happy, all night.

If you’re ever looking for a great show, no matter the location, Flo Rida certainly doesn’t disappoint.
