Concert Preview: Cathedrals XII
St. Mark’s Cathedral , Seattle, WA
06.04.16

When they say “a capella,” don’t expect a group of collegiates, Pitch Perfect-style, doing choreographed dance-pop covers on an auditorium stage. Instead, for Abbey Arts’ CATHEDRALS series, you’ll be taken to church. A literal church. Held in the powerful cathedral of Capitol Hill’s St. Mark’s – with its sunset-filtering stained glass windows and pin-drop acoustics – the series features indie bands in a welcoming, all-ages atmosphere where you’re encouraged to bring blankets and cozy right up to the stage.

This twelfth edition of the much-loved series will showcase short, vocal-only performances by Adra Boo (Fly Moon Royalty), Maiah Manser, The Banner Days (Bradford Loomis & Beth Whitney), Kelli Schaefer (Portland), Hope Simpson (Ever So Android), Nouela Johnston, Phinisey (Tacoma) and special guests.

Plus, they’ve added on a “Giant Sound Bath” following the concert. What’s that exactly? Led by Sound Healing with Daniella White and featuring special guest Daniel Blue (Motopony), you’ll relax onto your yoga mat or blanket and be bathed in the sonic vibrations of gongs, crystal bowls, and vocal toning. Basically, it’s stress relief and healing that will probably make you sleep way better. Totally worth it.
