Suicidal Tendencies
Showbox, Seattle, WA
03.03.16

It has been over 3.5 years since Suicidal Tendencies played in Seattle and the sold out crowd tonight at The Showbox at the Market couldn’t be more pumped for this show. Suicidal and tour partners Children Of Bodom are both in Seattle tonight playing respective headline shows as a break from the Megadeth jaunt they are both currently on. The anticipation could not have been at a more fevered height with the recent addition of legendary ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo to the fold.

ST exploded onto the stage with “You Can’t Bring Me Down” and they never slowed down. Lead singer – and the only remaining original member – Mike Muir was in top form seemingly running a marathon throughout the entire set. It was actually amusing to see the entire band giving Mike the space he needed as they all synchronized movement around his pacing. Bassist Ra Díaz laid down serious funky grooves with lead guitarist Dean Pleasants and Nico Santora shredding along with the pounding punk/metal back beat that only Lombardo can provide.

They crushed through a dynamic and powerful performance of the sound that has come to be the diversity of ST. Punk, thrash, speed metal, hardcore, and funk grooves are laden throughout the varied set of classics like “War Inside My Head,” “I Saw Your Mommy,” “Possessed to SK8,” and staple “Institutionalized.”

I have seen the band several times over the years and I have to say that this was one of the best performances I have witnessed. Dave Lombardo’s drumming style is a perfect match with the groove, power, and ferocity of the musical catalogue played to perfection tonight. All I wanted was a Pepsi and I got it and more! Ask anyone in attendance how good the show was. One of the best gigs I’ve seen in a long while!
