Muse’s seventh studio album – the politically and robotically-charged Drones – is a guilty-pleasure all out stadium-rocker that adheres strictly to its thematics while rewinding the band back to their rock roots. The band takes their guritar-driven prog rock on a road trip through modern society’s oft oppressive and disillusioned storylines, sticking to the concept while not necessarily stretching their lyrical affronts.

No matter, they certainly still have the live show and the audience to make this work for them. Always at the forefront of stage presentations, the band’s production team is taking it to another level this time with a full 360-degree stage and a swarm of actual drones. Keeping the stage low, centered and spinning, the band hopes to turn arenas into more intimate settings. Sure to be a unique show, not a surprise for one of the most impressive live bands currently playing.

Opening for Muse will be upstate New York’s synth-pop duo Phantogram. Their darkly dreamy, hip hop-influenced second LP Voices and Big Grams collaboration with Big Boi have garnered the indie up-and-comers notable marks and a growing fan base. The band is capable of delivering on their heavy beats and raw vocals in a live show that sparkles and haunts at the same time.

Catch both bands in what is sure to be a can’t miss show December 12 at Key Arena. Get your tickets now.
