A show is going to be special when the mother of the band’s creator brings hundreds of mini pastel-colored cupcakes for all to enjoy. Friday night at the Crocodile was certainly a night to be cherished by all who gathered, celebrating the exciting release of Lemolo’s second album, Red Right Return. A set list of both old favorites and soon-to-be-released hits made for the perfect evening, full of reminiscing and discovery. The simplicity of a shimmering satin curtain swaying ever so slightly in the background allowed the audience to soak up every word, as lead singer Meagan Grandall effortlessly put her passion on display. With eyes closed, the fullness of sound gave the sensation of far more than simply two artists on stage. Percussionist Adrian Centoni exuded energy and excitement with every beat while providing the perfect balance to Meagan’s rich layers of vocals, keys, and electric guitar. Her inspiration became palpable, warmly sharing, “Everyone I love is in this room right now.” Before finishing out the show, Cellist Sam Anderson came on stage to provide a sneak peak of his soul-filling strings featured on Red Right Return. Whether or not one walked into the Crocodile as a Lemolo fan Friday night, it’s likely that all must have felt the undeniable sweetness of this intimate gathering. As they set out on a tour of house shows, Lemolo will definitely be taking their magic to living rooms across the country.
