A young man with limitless vision and an unstoppable voice, Allen Stone made a visit to the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma on Wednesday night, giving another unforgettable performance lending his haunting, soulful sounds. Hailing from Chewelah, Washington, a small town about an hour north of Spokane, Stone disguises his humble roots with his remarkable talent. A church choir upbringing, combined with some friendly inspiration, now sees him embarking on this third album release, Radius, at the end of May. Great things are still to come.

Between jumping in to hug the crowd and his random stories about filling his tank with the wrong type of gas, Stone seemed to be enjoying himself and at his most relaxed. With a crowd of mostly college students, Stone took advantage and used a student as a handheld mic, after breaking his mic stand for the encore. The finale included a cover of Kool & the Gang’s “Get Down on It.” Always one for great covers, this one did not disappoint.

Stone is currently absorbed in a lengthy tour schedule, mapping out the US through September. The next time he hits the PNW will be on July 11th in Snoqualmie Pass at the Chinook Fest Summit; be sure to check out his audacious style and by all means grab a ticket to check him out.
