Preview: Big Data
The Crocodile, Seattle, WA
04.23.15

Big Data is pixilated, electronic pop from the paranoid mind of Brooklyn producer and Harvard alumnus Alan Wilkis. These are songs that – in spite of their pop sheen – explore the relationships between man and machine. Our dependency on technology has become fodder for the most creative minds and Wilkis falls squarely in that group, taking full advantage of the musical freedom technology allows while diving through themes like privacy and surveillance on the internet.

Mixing up vocals from some seriously hip collaborators (Joywave, Kimbra, Rivers Cuomo) with crunchy but expertly produced and wholly original instrumentals, Wilkis brings something new to the table. The weird themes disguised just under the surface of completely danceable pop songs are where the brilliance lies. Call it manipulation, call it creativity, call it meta, just make sure you pick up the phone. I for one can’t wait to see what this party is like in person.

Utah indie-rockers The Moth & the Flame will open the night.

The show is already sold out but stay tuned just in case!
