Still going strong, Cleveland royals Bone Thugs-N-Harmony overtook the historic Moore Theatre in Seattle this week to perform the entirety of their best-selling sophomore album, E. 1999 Eternal, for it’s twentieth anniversary. The typical wait for the late-starting hip-hop show proved well worth it when all five Bones appeared together, in top form.
The last time BTNH graced our green city was two years ago, celebrating twenty years since the group formed, and this performance was tame in comparison. Both the band and the crowd seemed to be reliving their memories in the most appreciative of ways, knowing this might be the last time they have the chance to revel in the live stylings of one of the most revered rap groups in history.
Every bit of the Bone Thugs’ quick-tongued lyricism and haunting harmonies were present, that “thuggish ruggish” vintage sound in stellar condition. Every original track from the album felt perfectly at home, true fans singing along the whole way through – hands in the air – while the members of BTNH cut wide swaths across the stage. The urban landscapes of their music and melodically soulful hooks are distinctly unforgettable, always.
