Showbox SoDo, Seattle, WA
10.30.14

A man distinguished for his technique and productivity, rapper Tech N9ne visited the Showbox SoDo on Thursday. Touring the states on his Band of Psychos Tour, Tech N9ne was accompanied by fellow Kansas City, Missouri rapper Krizz Kaliko, a fellow penman and collaborator signed to Strange Music. Aaron Yates, known to the world as Tech N9ne, released his first studio album in 1999, and is preparing to release his fifteenth studio album next year. Surely a mark that is deserving of a nod. Multi-dimensional in his lyrics and sound styles, Tech N9ne finds fuel and inspiration from his darker moments, creating an ensemble of emotional, philosophical, and honest music.

With the touring cast dressed in white, Tech N9ne walked onto the stage as a ghost of his own time, painting his face white and bathed in white and red lights. Halloween is only a simple excuse for spiritual fascination; Tech N9ne holds a penchant for deeper reflection, one which can be heard and felt in his words. His touring band included a guitarist, bassist, and a drummer. Although not big on dancing, his set stayed very energetic, keeping the SoDo crowd at a fever pitch. Tech N9ne finishes his Band of Psychos tour to continue on to his Live tour, which concludes in December. Be sure to check out his latest album, Special Effects, due out in 2015.
