English rock band Kasabian visited the Market Showbox Saturday night, showing off their well-known stage moves in a rare appearance on the West Coast. Jittery fans made the floor rumble as Kasabian made their way to the stage, starting their set with their current single “Bumblebee,” the latest from their album 48:13, which has seen chart-topping success in the UK. Lead Singer Tom Meighan sported a pair of Bono-esque fly eye glasses and immediately owned the crowd. The audience ranged from teens to those who were teens when Kasabian entered the scene nigh-on twenty years ago. As a band that has a long reputation for putting on a great show, their performance seemed effortless and on-point. With their fifth studio album in tow, Kasabian had plenty of work to draw from, receiving a notable reaction with “Treat,” turning the Showbox in a dance-filled frenzy.

Psychedelic acid rock band Bo Ningen opened the evening, taking the stage in a dichotomy of LSD and grunge-induced outfits, donning long flowing robes and holy jeans. While a small percentage of the crowd knew what they had signed up for, the majority of the audience had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Bo Ningen brought a frantic energy to the stage, and the buildup to their final song saw the entire floor moving. Guitars in full swing, they finish a few more US dates before returning to the UK in support of their current album, III.
