Tyler Ward
El Corazon, Seattle, Wa
05.28.14

Wednesday night at El Corazon brought a rush of local talent, as well as a gentleman who has been earnestly paving his own direction and finding his niche. Tyler Ward headed the house with a clutch of Seattle artists in tow, priming the crowd for a night of favorites that have, generally speaking, only lived a life of YouTube glory. Formerly, that is. Ah, but here he was in the flesh! Throw away your laptop batteries, kids!

While I’m unsure why a man would schedule six acts ahead of himself, assuming he wants his audience to still be present and awake, I can only deduce that Ward is a generous and kind individual. This is what I hear anyway, so we’ll roll with it.

Ward’s openers were as follows, kicking off with Curtis:

(1) Steven Curtis
(2) Lover Fighter
(3) Hatters For Hire
(4) Amanda Markley
(5) Matt Bacnis Band
(6) Brynn Elliott

Unfortunately, even with a love for the thorough review, I cannot research all these folks. So, in lieu of the written page, I opted for a brief description. These are the six I decided on:

(A) An acoustic hug; behave yourself
(B) First class, but without the free vodka
(C) Precocious and extremely promising
(D) Ready to rock (in a clean and organized fashion)
(E) An acoustic bear hug – keepin’ it real
(F) Earned the job and working on a raise

Match these six folks to their various adjectives and I’ll give you my respect. Normally, it’s harder to earn, but some days I’m hard up…

Ward took the stage around 10pm, bouncing to the microphone stand with a huge grin on his face. The anxious crowd looked on doe-eyed as Ward rolled into his set. He played his classic cover songs, as well as his more popular originals. His medley was especially great. If you’re unfamiliar with Tyler Ward, take this opportunity to find a new favorite and brush off your dusty playlist.

Key, or whatever:
