The Hawk in Paris
Album Review: Freaks

Alternative Synth-Pop band- The Hawk in Paris, recently released their first full-length album titled Freaks. Freaks is a miraculous mix of hypnotic harmonies and defining beats that holds the listener captive as you soar through 12 songs in the world of The Hawk in Paris.

Each song in the album promises to never let down and keeps the listener plugged in until the song is over and they are wanting more. The ambiance of Freaks is calm, but up beat, a cold weather album, a road trip album or a late night study album.  Singer, Dan Haseltine’s lyrics are very true and relatable and create a never faulting balance between voice and composition.

The title track and single of the album, Freaks, has a darker feeling than the rest of the album, but manages to maintain a cohesive voice throughout the album with other notable tracks like Beg for Love, Birds on a Wire and Put Your Arms Around Me. The album harks on the influence of bands like The Postal Service, Passion Pit, The Last Shadow Puppets and Sparta.

The Hawk in Paris’ Freaks is the most honest album I have listened to in a long time. I highly recommend checking out their new album Freaks, and their previously released EP- His+Hers, for a memorable listening journey upon the wings of ‘The Hawk.’
